From Dura Beds Orthopaedic Backcare Collection, the Ashleigh mattress has an open coil spring system, layers of white fibre fillings and a high-loft hand tufted damask cover.The mattress is upholstered in a quality damask fabric and benefits from a hand tufted finish; a process that ensures its layers of hypo-allergenic fillings are held securely in place.
At the core of the Ashleigh mattress is a 12.5 gauge open coil spring system, one of the firmest wires used in mattress manufacturing in the UK today.
Open coil systems are robust, durable and made up of rows of hourglass shaped springs connected at the top and bottom by a spiral wire, known as a helical wire.
The perimeter of the spring unit is reinforced by a thick, rod-edge wire that adds support to the border of the mattress. This lets you sleep right up to the edge without the sensation of rolling off.

Both base halves are a slightly different height. Some castors would not even fit in their holders in the bed, others just fell out.
There was even a little sharp piece of metal sticking out from the top end corner of the sprung base frame, which I had to then change to make that the headboard end of the bed to make sure nobody caught themselves on it.
The mattress however is very comfortable.
