Record bed sales week for the internet
Easter week saw our highest ever sales of beds and bedroom furniture from the internet. We have temporarily been offering a free delivery service which has brought a lot of new business, though not all profitable I’m afraid. Its a learning curve and interesting to see how there are organisations out there that appear to sell on the net at a loss. Now we are one too (only joking)!
Of course we keep looking at our costs and checking hard that we can match the best prices. Unlike a pure net retailer, our warehouse and office costs are already paid for by our stores. So we can’t really be beaten!
Also we have always found that the branded low cost operators – eg IKEA and Argos – price fairly and indeed, when you can find a like for like product, they are relatively easy to beat on price. In the end the consumer is going to win, but I do fear “there will be blood” and this story won’t win an Oscar.
