Rauch Wardrobes versus IKEA PAX

For choice, style, versatility and value for money, IKEA PAX extra wide wardrobes are hard to beat .

But I think we have their match: Rauch (German, pronounced like a dog bark with phlegm). 90cm to 350cm, sliding mirrored doors to neat bi-fold hinged doors. Beech to Wenge, tie racks to internal drawers. Rauch has it all.

Over the last 10 days we have built 10 shop displays, 150 wardrobes, and may Ingvar Kamprad strike me down if I tell a lie, not one problem, not one defect. The Germans know how to manufacture. Rotten at pop songs but great at wardrobes.

We are very excited. With this quality, this choice and most wardrobes under £500. Anyone that wants fitted wardrobes but can’t afford them, Rauch offers everything you might possibly want at less than half the price.

It was the turn of our Edinburgh store to be fitted out today. All done in a day with all hands on deck and a little help from Flatpackerman we were well ahead of the game by 3pm. So I took some time out to visit the competition.

Next door on Seafield Rd is Bensons for Beds and much to my chagrin Bensons have taken Rauch to their bosom too. Aagh! The old adage is that competition is good and Bensons will keep us on top form. We will need to sharpen our pencils and we will need to offer the highest service levels. We are up to the challenge.

Next we visited Dreams. I took Michael, our store manager with me, just in case I got thrown out. But my fears were unfounded. We got a lovely cup of coffee and enjoyed a good chat. It is annoying that everyone doesn’t buy their beds from Archers. How could they possibly prefer Dreams? However us retailers are all cast from the same mould. We may compete for the business but in the end we are all just trying to make a living and the Dreams staff were lovely.

By this time we reckoned all the heavy lifting would be complete so we returned to our own Rauch wardrobe displays. Beautiful, stunning wardrobes and I will be hugely disappointed if they crash and burn. Will the British public like them? We shall soon see.

I can honestly say we have never had a better bed and bedroom furniture proposition. From traditional oak to contemporary gloss. From low cost bunk bed mattresses to the very best pocket sprung and memory foam divan beds. This January sale is going to be our best ever.

Just putting the finishing touches to our sale price tickets. We have some great bargains lined up (and enough left to pay the wages). Come on down to the Archers Sleepcentre sale. Starts December 26th.
