Extra Firm Beds Best Sellers in Scotland

It is a well known trend within the UK bed industry, that the further north you travel, the harder the bed people prefer to sleep.

The reason for this trend has never been convincingly explained to me. I for one argue it’s the fact that hard beds are less expensive to make, and there is a trend for higher income levels and higher spending on a bed as you travel south.  Being a Scot it would be an attractive alternative proposition that southerners are just plain soft.

And a third proposition is that extra firm beds are good for your back and promote a better night’s sleep. It is this third proposition that I find particularly frustrating and at any opportunity I like to stand up and shout rubbish. It is undoubtedly true that people like different beds and even if every bed cost the same we would still have a wide range of firmnesses for sale, from an extra firm Sealy orthopaedic double mattress on a solid base to a sumptuous Kaymed memory foam pocket sprung bed resting on a sprung base (these beds don’t cost the same btw).

It was our last blog about Ross our newly appointed bed tester that reminded me once again to proselytise on the benefits of a softer bed. Our staff are offered discounts to buy an Archers bed and by so doing we get first hand testing of our products. Perhaps I should insist that at least one member of staff must buy a hard orthopaedic bed, but I can assure you they don’t. They always buy a softer bed and almost always they buy a bed with memory foam.

What can I say other than our staff are discerning, intelligent and highly trained. They aren’t rich (!) and yet they still push the boat out and pay for a decent non orthopaedic bed. Here rests my case. Buy an extra firm bed by all means, but just before you feel for your credit card have one last lie down on something a wee bit more forgiving.

Finally if you come across a good looking guy in a pink suit night clubbing in Edinburgh can you send him back home to Archers Sleepcentre, Seafield Rd. His Ma and Pa have long given up, but his Uncle Michael, our store manager, is persevering.

    Hi Ian,

Wee in Archer’s Sleepcentre Ayr tend to disagree with that, the store manager and my self both purchased Sealy Ortho-Luxury Bed’s and the end of last year and both agree that they are the best bed’s we have slept on!

Thing is old son. It’s not what you have slept on. It’s what you haven’t slept on. The Ortho Luxury is like comparing Lorraine Kelly to Lady Gaga. You gonna have to try Lady Gaga too, then comment.
