Bensons for Beds – are they the best?

Bensons for Beds has had a winning bed retail formula for over 20 years, but does the formula still work? Yes and no….

Historically, general furniture stores could never adequately focus on beds (there was so much more business in sofas and dining furniture etc), so Bensons would take a bed concession within a store and create that focus. But with the restricted space the host retailer would offer them, the focus wasn’t just on beds, but expensive beds for the master bedroom – super king beds, high value pocket sprung beds and top brands such as Relyon and Sealy. And with low overheads, low staff levels, and high priced products, Bensons for Beds found a profitable niche.

Of course retailers are well used to specialisations (from PC World to Clinton Cards) – but a specialist bed shop that only specialised in expensive beds for the master bedroom – is that not taking specialisation a bit far?

Ar Archers Sleepcentre, we think so. What about a good value bed for the spare room? Or a bed frame for the kids room? Or a low cost mattress because that’s all you can afford? At Archers Sleepcentre we offer the whole range of beds and bed frames from £59 up to £2000 and everything in between.

Can we buy the best beds and mattresses for all these markets and can our sales consultants be sufficiently knowledgeable? Yes, yes and thrice yes. Its not rocket science. And unlike Bensons we price the beds to sell in volume – so you can buy top end beds at budget margins. Of course our bed stores are considerably larger than Bensons but not so large you are going to get lost. Come and see for yourself.
