Bed Shed – do they sell the best cheap beds?
Until recently Bed Shed used to advertise their competitors phone numbers. “Phone our local bed competitor and check out our prices!” was the exhortation.
The problem was, more and more customers did, and Bed Shed were found out!
However, if the Bed Shed didn’t exist someone would have had to invent them. There is a huge demand for low cost beds that we can all afford. Especially guest beds, children’s beds and beds for the spare room. Not to mention those of us who just aren’t prepared to spend a fortune on any bed. Even us meanies need to buy a bed from somewhere.
So although we at Archers Sleepcentre would argue that the Bed Shed often marked up their beds just as high as they shouted about their low prices, they offered a refreshing choice to the bed buying public.
So do Bed Shed sell the best cheap beds? No, of course not! Why? Because we do at Archers Sleepcentre!
The knack in retailing low cost beds successfully depends on three things:
1. Buy beds at low cost, but demand top quality from your suppliers (no-one wants a cheap dodgey bed or mattress!).
2. Buy in bulk and carry stock.
3. Encourage customers to collect their beds (delivery costs wipe out any savings on, say a £59 bed)
And this is what we do at Archers Sleepcentre. Now don’t tell anyone please, or people might try and copy us. Just come and visit us and see for yourself. Remember, if you see a bed or mattress you like the chances are that you will be able to take your bed away today.

Good post. Certainly agree about the way to establish a great price. We sell Denver mattresses and use the same formula to obtain the valued pricing our customers are accustomed to obtaining, especially in this economy.

I find it very disturbing the posts you have on this site damning the other three main bed companies. I have visited Bensons, Bed Shed and Dreams’ websites but none of these sites leave scathing or depreciating reviews of each other. This is because each of these companies i’m sure has a keen sense of profesionalism in conducting their own business. None of these websites talks down the other.
So why does your page do this?
Is it because your business is incapable of promoting itself through normal means so you have to resort to publically decrying others? I find this very unprofessional and wonder why any business confident in it’s abilities to bring in customers would posdt such desperate attempts on it’s website to undermine the rest of the bed industry. I find it quite petty and to be honest i’m sure that the above mentioned bsinesses do also. I also imagine that they are not threatened by a company who cannot say “come to us because we’re great” but can only say “don’t go to them they’re not great”.
This lack of professionalism and desperate public bashing will not stand you in good stead for future development of your business. Rather it implies that you cannot stand on your own two feet and depend upon picking on so-called weaknesses of others. It’s unprofessional, petty and to be quite frank a little pathetic for a business to be posting such things. I believe you will still, even after this post continue to live in the shaddow of these other three giants.
Try to be a bit more professional if you want to be treated like a legitimate professional business.
Good luck.

I’m a fan of the Bed Shed too. Their prices are getting better and better but 100 pounds cheaper – I’ll need to go in and have a look. Didn’t think we shared any suppliers. Also our web site is being redesigned as we speak. I think its much better now. Still got a bit to go I know.
