Archers Stirling Bed Shop Opening Soon

Our new bed shop at Springkerse Retail Park, Stirling is starting to take shape. The mezzanine is being built, the disabled lift is on order and we will start recruiting next week.

Its been over a year since we last opened an Archers Sleepcentre so we are all a bit rusty on what needs doing, but the routine is coming back to us. And I am pleased that it looks like we can put previous frustrations behind us. The deal we have struck at Stirling was was such a huge improvement to what we could have achieved a year ago. Even 6 months ago landlords still had quite unrealistic rental expectations.

It looks like exciting times are close. I have been looking at the Allied Carpets portfolio of stores and of course we have Land of Leather and mfi stores to look at too. After watching Dreams move up from England and open bed stores in the most improbable locations and at breathtaking rents it will be nice to respond to this competition – no reckless deals, and steady as she goes – I do however think we have turned a corner.

I also hear that Bed Shed is opening stores – Kirkcaldy is one - I heard. So another Scottish bed retailer is seeing the same opportunities. I did think that the move to Scotland of Dfs, Land of Leather and ScS would see the end of our Scottish Reids and Sterling. But no, its Land of Leather and ScS who were given a good hiding. It would suit us of course if old Bed Shed and ourselves could see off our English invaders too. Bensons and Dreams watch out. Braveheart is alive and ready for war!
