Sealy Beds and Mattresses
The Sealy story started as far back as 1881 in the town of Sealy, Texas, hence the company's name where a young Daniel Haynes responded to a neighbour's request to produce a cotton filled mattress.
With its success and the demand from family, friends and neighbours to create more, Daniel invented a machine that was able to compress cotton for use in mattresses, receiving a patent for his machine in 1889.
Its popularity grew beyond the local area and began to be referred to in other regions as the "mattress from Sealy". In 1906, Haynes sold all of his patents and know-how to a Texas company that took the name of Sealy.
In 2013 Sealy Inc. merged with Tempur in the USA to create a company that now has factories and offices in over 50 countries worldwide. More people on the planet sleep on a Sealy than any other bed brand.
Sealy UK are part of the Silentnight group and operate from a 160,000 sq ft factory in Aspatria, a small town in Cumbria, employing around 330 staff and producing a staggering 3,500 mattresses and beds every week.
Sealy Posturepedic beds feature a unique Zonal Support System that ensures your spine is supported correctly and aligned to its natural shape, providing greater 'push back' support to the sleeper's body where weight is concentrated.
As you spend a third of your life in bed, Sealy's mission is to help you enjoy a deeper sleep and for this reason they spend more on research and development than any other mattress brand in the world.
